Understanding when your guest gets charged is crucial for managing expectations and ensuring a smooth transaction process. Here’s what you need to know about payment timings on Mangobeds, depending on your online payment settings.

If a Payment Account is not connected

If you haven’t set up a payment account (see how to do this here), you have complete flexibility regarding how to charge your guests. This means you can use external payment methods like bank transfer, or any other and then register them on the tool.

If a Payment Account is connected to the property

For properties with a Payment Account enabled (learn how to set up online payments here):

  • Charge upfront: You can configure the upfront payment to charge on the booking form and guests will be charged at the time of filling out the booking form. Depending on your settings, this could be either the full amount of the booking or just a booking deposit.
  • Not charging upfront: Guests will not be charged immediately. However, their credit card details will be saved securely when they confirm the booking. This ensures that the payment can be processed if there is a no-show or cancellation as per your policies.

Charging Guests at Any Time

One of the key benefits of having Payment Account connected is the flexibility to charge guests at any time from the booking page. Whether it’s a custom amount for additional services, extended stays, or any unforeseen charges, you have complete control to process payments whenever necessary. This feature ensures that colivings can adapt to unique guest needs and manage any extra charges with ease, making it a flexible tool for all types of properties.

This option can be especially useful for handling mid-stay payments, security deposits, or offering customized services like meal plans, tours, or extra amenities.
